It is Halloween time. For little kids, it is candy time. Emma is obviously happy, however torn by her conscience. And Annya has always welcomed junk in her life. Now the word junk is equivalent of candies, cookies, chocolates. Junk by default just means something sweet and a little bit forbidden. Mommy, can I have some junk? She would ask. Mommy, can we buy this junk?

The battle is lost before it even starts.

I grabbed some costumes from thrift store for them. Annya was a little minnie mouse, Emma was a queen, black-and-red ruffles and long train. Being a slender girl, she actually looked quite queenly, which was an untended result. Annya, on the hand, still has a little pooh-bear tummy and looked less like the light minnie. We all suspected she has had too much junk/candy. Time to be restrictive.

Yung is still everyone's prince charming/my darling. He is growing cuter each day, with impossibly large and bright eyes. Mommy, mommy, I want mommy! Everyday, I see that in his eyes, in his easy lovely smiles. Now that he can crawl, he crawls at my direction whenever i put him down. He says ma-ma very long ago, soundly beat Louis' predication that he would say "da-da" first, because it was easy. No. Ma'ma always comes in first.

Emma is very competitive with Annya. She has a great 3 year advantage over her biggest rival. Emma has never lost a race against Annya, or at least in her mind she has never lost. Even when she has lost to Annya, she will say how can I lose if I was never in the race? I think Emma will make a fine lawyer someday.

Who is my #1? That is very easy. We have Emma, Annya and Yung. How can you go wrong picking anyone of them? We have three #1's, some days someone may shine a little brighter than the others, but we will never have a #2 or #3 in our little family.

I will just sit back and enjoy their competitive games and root for the underdog. Someday soon Annya will level out the playing field for some great entertainment. Yung would not be left behind. He will be walking shortly and say look out world here I come.

Daddy, is it true if two people are born on the same day and one is born one minute before the other one, he or she is older?

Yes Emma, who ever is born first on the same day will be older.

Really? So that means that person would die first of old age.

Not everyone dies of old age.

I know Daddy, some people die young.

Age is just a number

Today is the most perfect day in my entire life. Emma loves to use big words, blanket terms as such. I guess it has to be, if you are immersed with new and big and fantastical words, and if you only have merely seven years to sum up.

Emma has grown, taller, prettier, more confident, thoughtful and helpful every day. Talking about confidence, obviously she thought she was the BEST, so one day she questioned me indignantly: "ok, you think Annya is as GOOD as I am?" What? Emma? She still has her little mean side, always making sure she is in charge. "Annya, you did not listen. You do not get any snack". That is a sure cry inducer.

It is a confidence-killer for Annya though, with a sister who draws, talks, and tells you that "Annya, you still need to learn many talents, such as, counting, doing math, writing ..." Everything Emma does, Annya would want to do. Emma is reading her fairy book, Annya wants to read Harry Potter. She would not want to read "baby" book now. Ouch. She would not want to draw, she always begs Emma to draw her a baby, a princess, a bird. Emma would be so proud she would say: "Annya, I draw the coloring pages for you and you color". Ouch! I would have to say: Annya, no. I love the little babies you draw. It is your work.

Yung is always, in Emma and Annya's words, "the prince charming, my hero, my ultimate treasure". In words only. When it comes to caring for him, Emma and Annya are completely not reliable. They only have at most 2 minutes' patience. The next minute, Yung would have snailed himself under the couch and crying. He is a beautiful and happy baby, slowly started crawling. He can say: ma-ma, ba-ba ... no da-da yet.

(Oh, always forgot to keep note: For Emma's birthday, we went to a concert, the singer Laura Doherty actually sang a "Happy Birthday" song for Emma. Wow, cannot want anything better. Other than that I forgot my camera!)

Emma is no longer 6 and a half. It seems like she was stuck on that number for a long time. Just last week, she still was 6 and a half. She turned 7 on the 7th of October. She continues to do well in school and is becoming a great artist. I believe she has two left feet in her dancing class but she is making up for it in her cooking class.

Annya is also doing well in school. All the teachers love her and say that she is doing a great job. She is in training to become a Princess. Emma is her mentor. Her mentor can be a little mean at times. Annya a Princess doesn't do this! Annya a Princess doesn't do that! Even after all the yelling is done, Annya would look at Emma and say, you are a Princess.

Yung continues to grow and become stronger. It is a struggle to change his diaper. He cant sit still for a minute. Yung is a great crawler in bed. He is the best eater from the kids. He has yet not tasted something that he doesn't like.

Happy Birthday Emma, may you live to see another Golden Birthday!
